European Solidarity Corps

What is the European Solidarity Corps?

The European Solidarity Corps is a European Union initiative that gives young people (aged 18–30) the opportunity to volunteer or work in solidarity-based projects across Europe. These projects support communities in need, promote inclusion, and contribute to positive social change — whether through education, social work, environmental protection, or cultural activities.

Why Join?

Volunteering with ESC is more than just helping others — it’s also a journey of personal growth. Participants gain valuable experience, develop new skills, explore different cultures, and build friendships across borders. All essential costs such as accommodation, food, insurance, and travel are covered by the program, making it accessible to everyone regardless of background.

How It Works

ESC opportunities usually last from 2 to 12 months and are organized by certified host organizations across Europe. Whether you’re interested in youth work, supporting refugees, environmental projects, or creative community initiatives, you’ll find a project that matches your passion. Participants can register on the European Youth Portal and apply directly to open calls.

Volunteering in Vsetín

Diakonie Vsetín is a dedicated organization committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals facing challenging social circumstances. We focuse mainly on addressing the needs of elderly individuals, both within the comfort of their homes and out in the field. By providing essential support and companionship to seniors in their residences, the organization aims to enhance their quality of life and foster a sense of belonging. Additionally, Diakonie Vsetín extends its outreach to the people and especially youth residing in marginalized and excluded communities, striving to offer them opportunities for personal growth and development. By working tirelessly across generations and social strata, we embody a vision of inclusivity, care, and progress within the community.

As a volunteer at Rubicon, a low-threshold facility for children and young people, you will support their successful integration into society through meaningful and engaging activities. Rubicon provides a safe space where children and teenagers can spend their free time, develop skills, and receive support when they need it.

Your role will focus mainly on activation and leisure activities, helping children use their time in a positive and constructive way. You will also assist with school preparation, especially in foreign languages (mainly English), and take part in organising and leading club and extracurricular activities based on your interests and skills.

You will also assist with group and outdoor activities, such as walks, excursions, and larger social or cultural events. In cooperation with the staff, you may help with the organisation of major events and support the pleasant atmosphere of the facility by assisting with the maintenance of indoor and outdoor spaces, including gardens and common areas.
