Ahoj, jmenuji se Elisa a pocházím z Itálie. Od loňského listopadu působím jako dobrovolnice v Nízkoprahovém klubu Rubikon. Minulý rok jsem dokončila střední školu a rozhodla jsem se dát si rok pauzu, abych si odpočinula a poznala něco nového – a tahle příležitost mi proto přišla dokonalá.
Českou republiku jsem dřív nikdy neplánovala navštívit, ale jakmile se tato možnost objevila, řekla jsem si: Proč ne? Nejvíc mě nadchla místní příroda. Vsetín je klidné město obklopené kopci – nabízí všechno potřebné a má kouzelné Horní Město, ale nejvíc se mi líbí právě okolní krajina.
Hlavním důvodem, proč jsem se sem vydala, je ale samotný projekt: Klub Rubikon je místo, kde si děti mohou hrát, bavit se a socializovat, a přitom se cítit příjemně a vítaně. Chtěla jsem být součástí něčeho, co – i když to může znít trochu idealisticky – aspoň malou měrou přispívá k lepšímu světu.
Jsem tu zhruba dva měsíce a zatím se mi daří dobře. S dětmi i kolegy vycházím fajn, a i když jazyková bariéra občas trochu zkomplikuje komunikaci, baví mě s nimi hrát hry nebo se věnovat uměleckým aktivitám.
Tyto měsíce jsou pro mě úplně novým zážitkem: poprvé bydlím sama v cizí zemi a nemám kolem sebe svou obvyklou partu. Není to úplně jednoduché a zvyknout si na tolik nového chce čas, ale je to zkušenost, kterou si ponesu celý život. Domů se chystám koncem června.

Hello, I’m Elisa and I come from Italy! I’m a volunteer at the Rubikon Klub since last november. Last year I finished high school and I decided to take a gap year to get some fresh air and and discover what is around, so coming here seemed the perfect chance.
Czechia has never been on my radar, but after this opportunity arose, I couln’t but notice a lot of points that now make me like it: my favourite is the nature. Vsetín is a chill town in the middle of hills: it has the necessary services and a lovely Upper Town, but the beautiful surroundings is what I like the most.
The main reason I decided to come here is the project: the Rubikon Klub is a space given to kids to have fun and socialise, but also a comfortable and friendly environment. I wanted to be part of it and, even if it sounds like a dreamer’s thought, to make a small part of the world a little better.
I’ve been there for about two months and things are well. I get along with the children and the collegues, even though the linguistic barrier is a challenge, I like to spend my time there playing or doing artistic projects.
These months (I’ll stay here till the end of June) are an experience that is completely new: I live by myself for the first time, I’m in a new country and without my bubble of people. It’s not a fable: getting used to something so new is not always easy, but it’s a experience that I will carry with myself forever.
